Noopur went from being the girl next door to Chennai’s most sought out fashion blogger. She’s talented, bold and an absolutely beautiful individual inside out. Noopur is all about body positivity and feeling confident in one’s skin regardless of what anybody says. A glance through her Instagram feed is enough to want make you follow her! Noopur launched her Label Noopur Kalra to give her audience what she wanted for herself and couldn’t find while shopping. In a little chit-chat with this inspiring woman, we learn more about her journey and her love for fashion!
Chennai Insider: How did your journey into fashion and blogging start? What inspired you to enter the fashion and digital content industry?
I always had a knack for fashion but was too shy to do something about it. While interning with The New Indian express, I was interviewing a person from a very prestigious brand and while doing so I told myself that I want to be on the other side of the phone being interviewed rather than being the interviewer and that’s how my journey began.
Chennai Insider: Tell us about your label Noopur Kalra. What motivated you to start your own fashion line?
Every time I went shopping I looked at something I really liked and always wanted to make changes to it. So I thought why don’t I make it on my own. I started with designing clothes for my mom and close family and myself. People started appreciating it and wanting similar things so I decided to make it into a label and sell those clothes.
Chennai Insider: There are now many fashion bloggers and influencers out there. What do you think makes you unique and what about you does your audience most relate to?
I was one of the first ones to start my journey as a fashion blogger and I’ve had people come up to me and tell me they started after seeing me. What makes me stand out is that I am not afraid of trying new things and being comfortable in my own skin. I like standing outside the box. Our society has made some rules, like don’t wear deep neck clothes or short clothes if you’re fat or healthy. I DON’T CARE about these things, I wear what I feel like and own it. That is exactly what people like about me and my style and that is how I stand out.
Chennai Insider: Tell us about your personal style. What are favorite fashion trends?
I LOVE COLORS. Anything colorful and I’m sold. You get to see that on my insta feed too. I don’t have favorite fashion trends . I wear what I feel like, trends come and go so I personally don’t follow any one in particular.
Chennai Insider: What are your hobbies? What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I love to dance and cook. I love trying out new recipes and making it for my family. Right now I am really big on Thai food.
Chennai Insider: Tell us how a day in your life looks like? Your schedule for a day right from the time you get up till you hit the bed at night.
I’m a night person, so most of my work gets done then. I keep my days left for meeting clients. Night is when I usually shoot, since its really quite and all my ideas form during the night. Its my time. During the day I love spending time with my family and my nephew. I’m really big on family and the night is just for me .
Chennai Insider: What are your goals for the future? Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
I see myself being among one of the top bloggers of India not just Chennai and have a full fledged boutique. It’s a lot of work to get there but I’ve never been afraid of working hard to achieve my goals.
